In computing, a server is a computer program designed to provide functionality for other program and devices. Its function is to process requests and deliver data to other computers over a local network or the internet. Forex trading, being an internet based financial business, has so much to do with servers. As a matter of fact, there are a host of servers that function for different purposes all geared towards effective forex transactions. These dedicated servers offers lowest latency network, and rock sold uptime, as well as other benefits.
WHAT IS A SERVER IP?
A server IP (internet protocol) is a unique identifier association with a computer network which allows users to send and receive data. An internet protocol address can be either static or static or dynamic. The internet, as we all know, is really massive. It really would have been a chaotic environment if not for the development of internet protocol. The same applies to forex trading, your broker server IP brings in some decorum into the decentralized world of forex trading.
HOW TO FIND YOUR BROKER’S SERVER IP
If you are looking to find your broker server IP, here are some steps to guide you
Make sure no other internet connection is running asides your broker’s MT4./MT5 trading platform. This is to ensure that you get accurate results.
Ensure that you are successfully connected to your broker’s server; this should not be a brainer at all.
Go to command prompt on your computer, and type the following in it; “netstat –n:. Be sure to leave a space after nestat before “-n”, the quotation marks excluded.
Press enter and let the machine run for some seconds
This will give you a list of all the network connections that are currently open in your computer. The IP address of your MT4 or MT5 platform should be in the list too, somewhere underneath the “foreign address” heading.
Note that all metatrader platform, be it MT4 or MT5, makes use of port 443 for communication. Just to be a bit specific, you will see the number 443 next to your metatrader broker IP. This IP address goes for both trading in real accounts and demo trading. so, if you want to find you forex broker demo server, you will still have to go through the same process because it is the same broker, the same platform, both for the demo accounts, and the real accounts.
