A large South Korean shopping mall, Goto, is going to add bitcoin payments already in mid-December, according to Bitcoin.com. 620 stores will be able to accept bitcoin due to the mall’s co-operation with South Korea HTS Coin cryptocurrency exchange.
The shopping mall is visited by more than 500,000 of people every day, because of its good location. It is connected to one of the major subway transfer stations.
“when the reconstruction of the nearby apartment complex is completed, the [number of] visitors is expected to increase further”, Kyeonggi news outlet reports
Moreover, World Duty-Free is expected to open next year, which will attract foreign visitors.
Except for bitcoin, Goto will still accept cash and bank cards. Also, Alipay system can be used as payment terminal.
Goto Mall CEO Chung Gwi Yeon commented,"I think it is very meaningful to be able to settle the bitcoin used by foreigners and young people at Goto Mall".
