American National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations, (Nasdaq). This is reported by Bloomberg, with the reference to the source with knowledge, refusing to give the name.
A kind of a race for launching bitcoin futures has started. CME Group and CBOE Global Markets have both announced their plans to launch futures products based on bitcoin this year. Now they have been been joined by Nasdaq.
Nasdaq will present cryptocurrency derivatives in the second quarter of 2018. The contracts, which will be based on an index that takes in prices from more than 50 bitcoin exchanges, will be traded in NFX and be so called “cleared” options.
Besides, in case of bitcoin hardfork, Nasdaq plans to sell forks and reinvest the profits in the original bitcoin. The task looks too difficult, as Nasdaq is not a large futures market player.
It should be noted, that Nasdaq itself hasn't announced to launch bitcoin futures yet, however, it refuses to comment any information about that.
