Following American CBOE and CME Group, Japan exchange is also planning bitcoin futures launch. Tokyo financial exchange announced its plans to trade BTC futures, according to Bloomberg.
Remember, bitcoin futures launch was approved by the regulator in the USA. In Japan it is somehow more difficult. To list cryptocurrency as a financial instrument will require changes in the country law, as Tokyo Financial Exchange Inc Shozo Ohta explains. “Once the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act recognizes cryptocurrencies as financial products, we will list the futures as quickly as possible,” Ohta told reporters “To achieve that, we will launch this working group to study various aspects, including bitcoin’s present status, its outlook, and what form it will take root in Japan’s society.”
Working group, Shozo Ohta talks about, is only the first step toward changing legislation, for the project must be approved by the government. However, experts note, that there are going to be no problems, as Japan is known to be the most cryptocurrency-orientated world nations.
