Forex market time schedule

Forex market time schedule refers to the period of time in which the forex market opens and closes. This time schedule differs from one region or continent to the other and it is also dependent on the time zone.

To plan a very good forex market time schedule it is very important for the trader to know the rules and regulations guiding the opening and closing of the forex market in the region where he/she is trading. The trader also needs to know the period of activity of each trading session in the market. The table below gives a summary of the time schedule of each of the trading sessions.

Session    City    Open (EET*)    Close (EET*)

Pacific    Sydney    0:00    9:00

Asian    Tokyo    2:00 – 3:00    11:00 – 12:00

European    London    10:00    19:00

American    New York    15:00 – 16:00    0:00 – 1:00

* Eastern European time: GMT+2 winter; GMT+3 summer

A careful look at the table can give the trader a good idea on when the market starts and closes so that the trader can perfectly plan the forex market time schedule for trading.
CHARACTERISTICS OF REGIONAL TRADING SESSIONS AND HOW THEY CAN AFFECT THE FOREX MARKET TIME SCHEDULE

1.    PACIFIC TRADING SESSION
In the Pacific trading session, the forex market starts when the Pacific session opens on Monday local time. This is regarded as the most peaceful time on the market for investment and trading since the session is characterized by a rather low volatility. When trading in forex here, your forex market time schedule should also start and end with the market if you are interested in making good profits.

2.    ASIAN TRADING SESSION
In the Asian trading session, currency pairs such as the USD, AUD, JPY and EUR are traded in this period. There is always an intersection of working time between this session and the pacific trading session and as such, AUD is traded actively in this period.

3.    EUROPEAN TRADING SESSION
The trading activities in this session usually kick start in the financial centres such as those located in Zurich, Frankfurt and Paris. The activity of trade in this session receives a boost once the trade begins in London. The market in this session receives a recession at lunch time and the activity restarts again by evening. In the European trading session, a partially strong volatility may be noticed since the zone has a large turnover amount of money.

4.    AMERICAN TRADING SESSION
The American trading session usually kick starts the most active time of the foreign exchange market. This is largely because it reaches the opening of trading in New York and the renewal of trading in Europe. The beginning of the American trading session is also characterized by the release of fundamental news of paramount importance. Before closing on Friday, it is characterized by a sufficient aggressiveness.
